What's in this paddle?:
- Figured Genuine Mahogany: This species grows in Southern Mexico to central South America. Its color ranges vary from yellowish-brown to orange to reddish-brown. Mahogany also exhibits an optical phenomenon known as chatoyancy, which is especially pronounced in this paddle due to it's figured grain.
- Longleaf Pine: This domestic species is found primarily in southeastern United States. Longleaf Pine is considered to be in the group of southern yellow pines, and shares many characteristics with other species of this group, such as being hard, dense, and possessing an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. This pine was specially donated to us by the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center.
