What's in this paddle?:
- Longleaf Pine: This domestic species is found primarily in southeastern United States. Longleaf Pine is considered to be in the group of southern yellow pines, and shares many characteristics with other species of this group, such as being hard, dense, and possessing an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. This pine was specially donated to us by the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center.
- Figured White Oak: The white oak tree grows in Eastern United States. The heartwood is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Oak is regarded as one of the most beautiful woods to work with because of its grain pattern and character. Figured white oak has a good natural luster with a light-refracting optical phenomenon known as chatoyancy.
